The Next 007: 4 Rumored Actors Who Could Suit Up as James Bond

Who should play the next James Bond for Amazon MGM Studios?

The long wait for the new James Bond still has people on the edge of their seats. While many expected an announcement at Cinemacon for who the new 007 would be, the news is yet to come. The ongoing process of creative control for the franchise has prolonged casting, leaving original and newer Bond fans with unease. Just who will take up the mantle next? Let’s explore a few rumored options and why they would be perfect!

Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has previously been in talks about taking up the role, but he’d be a very good pick. His wit and humor in the thriller “Bullet Train” as the character Tangerine was well loved by his fans and general movie lovers. He was a contract assassin with charisma and charm. With this performance, Aaron Taylor-Johnson showed he could pursue the realms of this genre even more in his acting career. However, “Bullet Train” isn’t the only film he could put on his Bond resume. In “Kraven,” his character had a Bond essence in quite a few scenes. Particularly while his character Sergei was celebrating his brother’s birthday, he was dressed in a suave suit, with a beard and hair done nicely. Taylor-Johnson captures both the charm of Bond but also… it’s very evident he has the look.

Regé-Jean Page

This “Bridgerton” star could also be the next Bond. Regé-Jean Page has also been fancast as Bond by many. Even before the “Bridgerton” premiere the actor gave the fancast a nod, posting on X “Regency, royalty. Shaken and stirred.” A bigger clue to how he could possibly be in the running is he’s been known to wear Omega watches, which are the known watch type for the Bond franchise. His latest role was in the spy thriller “Black Bag,” and beforehand he had been in another spy thriller called “The Gray Man.” It’s safe to say he has experience of spy thrillers under his belt that could come in handy for the Bond franchise! And, of course, like Aaron-Taylor Johnson… this duke always looks very dapper and is suave like no other!

Barrett Carnahan

While this actor is mainly a series actor, he definitely has the look of James Bond. Featured in “Cobra Kai,” “Alexa & Katie,” and “Cruel Summer,” Barrett Carnahan has portrayed both playful yet stoic energy in his projects. And since he’s been featured in “Cobra Kai” as a young John Kreese… he has experience in action. And he does have that sharp, chiseled look you’d expect an agent to have. Put him in a tux? He’d have viewers swooning. And even with his minor roles, he’s already evidently in the past had several swooning. At the same time, he’s known to be a TV actor and mainly shows off his skills in supporting roles, having him as a lead could pleasantly surprise 007 viewers and fans!

Paul Mescal

Another candidate who has Bond potential is Paul Mescal. While he’s in demand, and his most viral upcoming project is a Beatles biopic, it would be a delight for many to see him squeeze Bond into his busy schedule! Mescal has shown that he has ranged from “Normal People” to “Gladiator II” as evidence of that, and he has the charm of bond. The way he carries himself in interviews, his notable high fashion, and his ability, like the other candidates here, make women swoon. Mescal also has a lot of experience in the action realm due to “Gladiator II”, so his stamina and training for that previous project are great for the resume of the new James Bond role!

So far, the rumored actors and the fan-cast ones can give Bond fans hope. There have been many versions of 007 throughout the years, and while something new can make many skeptical, let’s not underestimate who orders a martini shaken, not stirred, next at the bar!
