Toy Story 5 pits classic toys against a tablet named Lilypad.

Disney and Pixar have debuted a brand-new trailer and poster for Toy Story 5, the highly anticipated next chapter in the beloved animated franchise. This time, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the toys face a modern challenge that hits close to home: a tablet device named Lilypad.
A Tablet Named Lilypad Shakes Up Playtime
In Toy Story 5, the gang’s purpose is tested when they come face to face with Lilypad, a brand-new tablet voiced by Greta Lee. Unlike previous villains, Lilypad is not evil in the traditional sense. Instead, she brings her own disruptive ideas about what is best for Bonnie.
As screens begin to replace traditional toys, the question becomes clear: Will playtime ever be the same?

The trailer teases a long-awaited reunion between Woody and Buzz following Woody’s emotional decision at the end of Toy Story 4 to leave Bonnie’s room and help lost toys alongside Bo Peep. Now, with a digital device competing for Bonnie’s attention, it is all hands on deck.
A Franchise That Changed Animation
The original Toy Story, released in 1995, made history as the first fully computer-animated feature film. It introduced audiences to Woody and Buzz and built a world where toys come to life when humans are not looking.
Toy Story 2 deepened that emotional bond by exploring themes of loyalty and identity. At the same time, Toy Story 3 delivered one of the most powerful endings in animated film history as Andy said goodbye before heading to college.
In 2019, Toy Story 4 expanded the universe again, focusing on purpose and independence. Woody chose a new path, leaving longtime friends behind in a bittersweet farewell that many believed marked the end of the book.
However, Toy Story 5 proves that the story is not over.
Returning Favorites and New Faces
Longtime voice stars return, including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie. Fan favorites also reprise their roles, such as Annie Potts as Bo Peep and Tony Hale as Forky.
The expanded cast introduces several new characters. Craig Robinson voices Atlas, a cheerful GPS hippo toy. Shelby Rabara plays Snappy, an excitable camera toy. Mykal-Michelle Harris voices Blaze, an independent young girl who loves animals. Matty Matheson joins as Dr. Nutcase, a tech-fearing toy wary of Lilypad’s presence.

Meanwhile, returning voices include John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, and Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom.
A Creative Team With Deep Pixar Roots
Toy Story 5 is directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton, known for WALL•E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory. He is joined by co-director Kenna Harris and producer Lindsey Collins.
Composer Randy Newman returns to score his fifth Toy Story feature, continuing a musical legacy that has defined the franchise since its beginning.
With technology now at the center of childhood, Toy Story 5 aims to explore how toys survive in a digital world. However, if the franchise has taught audiences anything, it is that friendship always wins.
The toys are back. And this time, they are fighting for playtime itself.
Toy Story 5 opens exclusively in theaters nationwide on June 19, 2026.
