Disney drops the first full look at the third chapter in the TRON franchise.

Disney has officially launched the first trailer for TRON: Ares, the third film in the genre-defining sci-fi franchise that began in 1982. The highly anticipated sequel opens exclusively in theaters on October 10, 2025.
A New Chapter Begins
TRON: Ares follows a highly advanced Program named Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a high-stakes mission. This bold encounter marks the first time humans interact face-to-face with artificial intelligence beings.

Directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), the film stars Jared Leto as Ares alongside an impressive ensemble that includes Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and returning legacy actor Jeff Bridges.
Nine Inch Nails Returns with a Digital Edge
In a major music moment, Grammy-winning rock band Nine Inch Nails has composed the full score for TRON: Ares. This marks the band’s first official film score released under the Nine Inch Nails name. While frontmen Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are no strangers to the world of film composition—having won multiple Oscars, Golden Globes, and more—this project represents a major milestone.
The first single, titled “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” made its debut alongside the trailer. It’s the band’s first new official release in five years and brings an emotional, industrial energy that perfectly fits the digital-meets-human conflict at the heart of TRON: Ares.
The full album, TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), will be released on September 19, 2025, via Interscope Records.
A Franchise Rebooted
The TRON series began in 1982 with the original film starring Jeff Bridges. It was revived in 2010 with TRON: Legacy. The sequel was known for its stunning visual effects and electronic score by Daft Punk. TRON: Ares looks to push the franchise into a new era. It will blend mind-bending visuals with timely questions about AI, humanity, and the digital frontier.
