Yul Vazquez and Danny Pino, two accomplished actors, star in the new MGM+ series “Hotel Cocaine.” The series explores the tumultuous Miami cocaine scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is told through the lens of Roman Compte, played by Pino. Watch my conversation with the stars of the show.

Danny Pino is best known for his roles in “Cold Case” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” He takes on the role of Compte, a Cuban exile and the general manager of the notorious Mutiny Hotel. Pino’s portrayal of Compte brings depth to the character of a man striving to maintain his hold on the American Dream amidst chaos. Pino’s acting career has been marked by his ability to embody complex characters. Yul Vazquez, who has made a name for himself with roles in “Narcos: Mexico,” “Godfather of Harlem,” and “Severance,” joins Pino in this gritty drama. Vazquez’s diverse acting portfolio showcases his versatility, from comedy to intense dramas. In “Hotel Cocaine,” Vazquez delivers another compelling performance, contributing to the series’ intricate portrayal of Miami’s dark underbelly.

The series centers on the Mutiny Hotel.

It is a glamorous hotspot that was the epicenter of Miami’s cocaine trade. The hotel was frequented by a mix of Florida businessmen, politicians, international narcos, CIA and FBI agents, models, sports stars, and musicians. It was a microcosm of the era’s excess and danger. The series is thrilling, with Compte at the heart of it all, trying to keep the hotel running smoothly while navigating the treacherous waters of the cocaine trade.
