Tyrese Gibson and Ray Liotta star in Ariel Vromen’s gripping crime-thriller ‘1992’.

Ariel Vromen’s latest directorial venture, 1992, will hit theaters on August 30th and feature one of the late Ray Liotta’s final performances. He passed away in 2022. The film is a gripping tale of tension and redemption set against the backdrop of one of Los Angeles’ most tumultuous periods. It dives deep into the lives of two fathers and their sons, navigating personal and social upheavals in the aftermath of the Rodney King verdict.

Tyrese Gibson leads the ensemble cast as Mercer.
He is a man struggling to rebuild his life and reconnect with his son, portrayed by Christopher A’mmanuel. Mercer’s path crosses with another father-son duo, played by Ray Liotta and Scott Eastwood. In one of his final film roles, Liotta delivers a performance that adds another memorable chapter to his illustrious career. Liotta’s career spans several decades, marked by iconic roles in films like “Goodfellas,” “Field of Dreams,” and “Narc.” The supporting cast is equally impressive. It features Clé Bennett, Dylan Arnold, Michael Beasley, Ori Pfeffer, Tosin Morohunfola, and Oleg Taktarov. Watch the trailer below!
Set during the 1992 LA uprising, the film intricately weaves the personal struggles of its characters with the broader social unrest. Mercer’s journey to mend his fractured relationship with his son is set against the heist orchestrated by Liotta and Eastwood’s characters, aiming to steal valuable catalytic converters from the factory where Mercer works. This heist serves as a poignant metaphor for the desperate measures taken by individuals in times of crisis.
“1992” promises to be a must-watch as it gears up for its theatrical release. Audiences can anticipate a film that is both thought-provoking and thrilling, cementing its place in the annals of contemporary cinema.
