Adam Driver Leads Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis In New Trailer

Francis Ford Coppola’s highly anticipated Megalopolis brings audiences a grand vision set in a modern America, yet deeply inspired by Roman epic traditions. Coppola, best known for crafting some of cinema’s greatest masterpieces such as The Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now, and The Conversation, has spent years working to bring this monumental film to life. Known for his daring, innovative storytelling and rich character studies, Coppola has once again ventured into new territory with Megalopolis, blending history, futurism, and complex human struggles into a riveting narrative.

At the heart of Megalopolis is the clash between Cesar Catilina, played by the incredibly talented Adam Driver, and Mayor Franklyn Cicero, portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito. Cesar is a visionary, a revolutionary artist determined to guide New Rome into a utopian future. Driver, whose career has flourished since his breakout role in Girls, has consistently shown an ability to tackle deeply layered and challenging characters. From his powerful performances in Marriage Story, Paterson, and BlacKkKlansman to his unforgettable turn as Kylo Ren in Star Wars, Driver brings a unique intensity and emotional depth to Cesar, making him a compelling centerpiece of the film.

As tensions mount between Cesar and Mayor Cicero, their opposing ideologies threaten to tear the city apart. Meanwhile, Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), caught between her father and her lover, finds herself in the throes of a personal moral conflict, questioning the direction of her own beliefs. The film’s star-studded cast, including Aubrey Plaza, Laurence Fishburne, Dustin Hoffman, and Shia LaBeouf, further elevates this ambitious story.
