Paramount+ is bringing fans back to the Four Nations with a new original animated film centered on Avatar Aang. Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will premiere globally on Paramount+ on Saturday, July 25.
The new film is based on the animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. This time, Aang learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction.
However, that power also brings a major threat. With the help of his friends, Aang begins a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands. If they fail, the peace they fought so hard to protect could be destroyed.
Aang Returns With a New Mission
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender expands the world of the beloved franchise with a new story set after Aang’s earlier adventures.
Eric Nam voices Aang in the film. The cast also includes Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Steven Yeun as Zuko, and Dionne Quan as Toph.
Freida Pinto, Ke Huy Quan, Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Ronny Chieng, and Ken Jeong also join the voice cast. Dee Bradley Baker returns as Appa and Momo, Aang’s beloved animal companions.
The film brings several major names into the Avatar universe while keeping the core team at the center of the story. Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Toph, Appa, and Momo all play into the next chapter.
Avatar Aang Heads to San Diego Comic-Con
Before its Paramount+ debut, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will have a major presence at San Diego Comic-Con.
The film will take over Hall H on Thursday, July 23, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The panel will feature the voice actors and creative team behind the new movie.
Fans can expect an in-depth conversation about the making of the film. The panel will also look at what comes next in the Avatar universe.
Paramount+ is also promising exclusive sneak peeks and new insight into Aang’s next journey.
Fans Can Watch the Film Early at Comic-Con
Comic-Con attendees will also get the chance to see Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender before it hits Paramount+.
A special fan screening will take place on Friday, July 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:20 p.m. in Ballroom 20.
The screening gives fans an early look at the new story. In the film, Aang and his friends race against time to secure an ancient power before it threatens the world they helped save.
Paramount+ Brings Avatar to the Convention Floor
Paramount+ will also celebrate the film on the Comic-Con convention floor.
From Wednesday, July 22, through Sunday, July 26, fans can visit the Press Play Arcade at Booth #3529. The booth will feature arcade-style games themed to select Paramount+ originals.
Avatar fans can also play “Cabbage Cart Madness,” a game inspired by one of the franchise’s most memorable running jokes. A Comic-Con International badge is required for entry.
Who Made Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender?
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender was directed by Lauren Montgomery. Steve Ahn and William Mata co-directed the film.
The producers include Latifa Ouaou, Maryann Garger, Bryan Konietzko, and Michael Dante DiMartino.
Tim Hedrick and Christopher Yost wrote the screenplay. The story comes from Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Tim Hedrick, and Kenneth Lin.
With a new story, a major voice cast, and a big Comic-Con rollout, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender gives fans another reason to return to the Four Nations when it premieres globally on Paramount+.
