The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer reveals major battles, surprising returns and growing tension between Marvel’s iconic heroes.
Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated film of the year has finally revealed its official trailer! The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, featuring the returns of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and more, has officially dropped!
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo of Avengers: Endgame fame, the latest Avengers film in the “multiverse” era sees the franchise’s three iconic teams joining forces to fight against Doctor Doom. However, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and X-Men might have some difficulty seeing eye-to-eye.
In addition, a poster highlighting Doctor Doom was also revealed. This new poster features hints towards Avengers: Doomsday following a similar storyline to 2015’s Secret Wars, where Doom took Sue Storm and Franklin Richards into his “family.”
Avengers: Doomsday Pits Iconic Marvel Heroes Against Each Other
The full trailer, which was previously featured at this year’s CinemaCon, sees Thor delivering a prescient warning about Doctor Doom’s presence. However, Doom also warns about the unthinkable decisions in the cfuture.
Throughout the trailer, notable characters are seen present, which include the New Avengers (previously known as the Thunderbolts), Sam Wilson’s Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and members of an older X-Men. Plus, Shuri’s Black Panther and her Wakandan forces are still going head-to-head with Namor and his people.
How Does Steve Rogers Make a Comeback in Avengers: Doomsday?
Other iconic moments also include the exciting fight between Shang-Chi and Gambit in a destroyed X-Mansion, a Loki variant reflecting on the new Time Variance Authority, and Yelena Belova fighting a shapeshifting Mystique. In addition, a Nomad-esque Steve Rogers is also on the scene, though how he came back younger remains a mystery as of now.
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers travelled back in time to return the used Infinity Stones, eventually retiring with Peggy Carter. Whether this Steve Rogers was pulled from a different timeline or the same one fans have watched for decades remains to be seen.
