Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag promises espionage and suspense.

Focus Features is set to release Black Bag, the latest thriller from director Steven Soderbergh. It is set to be in theaters nationwide on Friday, March 14. The film, penned by veteran screenwriter David Koepp, boasts an all-star cast. It includes Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Marisa Abela, Tom Burke, Naomie Harris, Regé-Jean Page, and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Bag is a gripping espionage drama. It centers on legendary intelligence officer George Woodhouse, played by Fassbender. His wife, Kathryn, is portrayed by Blanchett. When Kathryn is suspected of betraying the nation, George is forced into a harrowing dilemma—remaining loyal to the woman he loves or upholding his duty to his country.

Soderbergh is known for his sharp direction in films such as Traffic, Ocean’s Eleven, and No Sudden Move. He returns to the spy genre with a story that blends intrigue. The film also features high-stakes action and emotional complexity. Koepp, whose screenwriting credits include Mission: Impossible and Panic Room, crafts a tense narrative that keeps audiences guessing until the final moment.
The ensemble cast brings together some of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors.
Blanchett, a two-time Academy Award winner, and Fassbender, known for his commanding performances in X-Men and Steve Jobs, lead the film. They are joined by rising star Abela (Back to Black), Tom Burke (The Souvenir), Naomie Harris (No Time to Die), Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton), and Pierce Brosnan, who brings his own history with the spy genre as a former James Bond.
With a mix of psychological drama and pulse-pounding espionage, Black Bag is poised to be one of the year’s most anticipated thrillers.

Black Bag opens in theaters on March 14.
