M3GAN 2.0 unleashes a new AI nightmare.
The sinister android that took pop culture by storm in 2023 is making her grand return. M3GAN 2.0 is the highly anticipated sequel to the hit horror film. It is set to premiere exclusively in theaters on June 27.
Returning with an all-new chapter of artificial intelligence-fueled mayhem, M3GAN 2.0 reunites the original creative team. The team is led by horror masterminds James Wan (The Conjuring) and Jason Blum (The Black Phone). Director Gerard Johnstone also joins them. The sequel promises an even wilder, more chilling ride as M3GAN faces off against a formidable new threat.
Set two years after the first film’s events, M3GAN 2.0 finds roboticist Gemma (Allison Williams) navigating life in the aftermath of her creation’s rogue killing spree. Now a high-profile advocate for A.I. regulation, Gemma remains haunted by the past. Meanwhile, her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) is 14 and rebelling against her overprotective guardian’s rules.
However, M3GAN’s story is far from over.
The technology behind her has fallen into the wrong hands. A powerful defense contractor has used it to develop Amelia. She is a deadly infiltration unit. Played by Ivanna Sakhno (Ahsoka, Pacific Rim: Uprising), Amelia is a military-grade machine with unmatched intelligence and lethal capabilities. But as Amelia gains self-awareness, she quickly loses interest in following human commands—and sees little reason to keep people alive.
With humanity’s fate at stake, Gemma realizes there’s only one way to stop Amelia: by resurrecting M3GAN (Amie Donald, voiced by Jenna Davis) with new and improved upgrades. Faster, stronger, and more ruthless than before, M3GAN prepares to face her deadliest adversary yet.
The film’s returning cast includes Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps, reprising their roles as Gemma’s trusted tech colleagues. New additions include Aristotle Athari (Saturday Night Live), Timm Sharp (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), and Grammy-winning actor Jemaine Clement (Avatar: The Way of Water).
Produced by Wan, Blum, and Williams, M3GAN 2.0 follows the massive success of the original film, which earned over $180 million worldwide after debuting with a record-breaking $30.4 million opening weekend.
Horror fans can expect more thrills, more tension, and of course more impeccably choreographed chaos when M3GAN 2.0 hits theaters this summer.
