Isaiah Mustafa and Andrew Koji Dive Into ‘Boy Kills World’ Spinoff Possibilities

Isaiah Mustafa and Andrew Koji discuss potential spinoffs for their ‘Boy Kills World’ characters.

Isaiah Mustafa and Andrew Koji are the stars of the action-packed film “Boy Kills World”. Following the release of their latest project, they are eyeing potential spinoff opportunities for their characters, Benny and Basho. In a recent interview, the actors shared insights into their roles and the potential for expanding their characters’ stories beyond the big screen. Watch the interview below!

The film isdirected by Moritz Riesewieck.

Boy Kills World features Bill Skarsgård as “Boy.” He is the vengeance-driven protagonist seeking retribution after his family falls victim to Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the ruthless leader of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty. Boy forms alliances with seasoned resistance fighters as he navigates this chaotic world. That includes Benny (Isaiah Mustafa) and Basho (Andrew Koji), who join him in his quest to dismantle the Van Der Koy empire. Read our Movie Review!

Andrew Koji is known for his roles in “Warrior” and “Snake Eyes.” He brings a humorous portrayal of Basho, a street-smart survivor nursing old wounds. Koji drew inspiration from unexpected sources like Rocket Raccoon from “Guardians of the Galaxy” and the character archetypes defined by Greek philosopher Theophrastus. Explaining Basho’s persona, Koji describes him as an overzealous leader who, despite his setbacks, finds renewed purpose in supporting Boy’s mission. Isaiah Mustafa, a former NFL wide receiver turned actor, portrays Benny. He is a taciturn military tactician whose backstory is revealed through Boy’s perspective. Mustafa and Koji collaborated closely before filming. They developed intricate backstories that seamlessly intertwined with the narrative envisioned by director Moritz Riesewieck. “We went back and forth and then ran it all by Moritz, who was 100% open to our ideas,” Mustafa explains.

The chemistry between Mustafa and Koji is undeniable.

Their characters in “Boy Kills World” represent a blend of seasoned experience and resilient determination within the resistance movement. When asked about potential spinoff opportunities for Benny and Basho, Mustafa expressed enthusiasm for exploring their characters further in a standalone series. “I think there’s a lot more to uncover with Benny,” Mustafa says. “His mysterious persona and unique perspective could make for compelling storytelling in a spinoff series.” Koji echoes this sentiment, envisioning Basho’s journey beyond “Boy Kills World” as an exploration of resilience and redemption. “With Basho, there’s so much untapped potential,” Koji remarks. “His evolution from a wounded soul to a pivotal ally could be fascinating to explore.”

“Boy Kills World” features visceral martial arts sequences and dystopian intrigue. The film’s success could easily set the stage for further adventures within this post-apocalyptic universe, where Benny and Basho’s stories may continue to unfold.
