Full of energy and mischief, Leo finds himself in a series of sticky situations as he learns essential survival skills.
“It was crucial for our story that Leo was an adventurer, and when the team encountered one particular pup, we knew we had our star,” said Wilson. “Regularly supplied with lots of milk by his devoted mum, Luna, Leo was full of energy and keen to make his mark on the world. Full of character from day one, he was constantly up to no good—getting into sticky situations.”
Fraser’s voice performance brings the film’s vibrant and adventurous tone to life.
He easily combining high-stakes drama, educational content, and humorous moments. “Working with Brendan was an honor, and he delivered a great performance with the narration,” Wilson added. “He was able to convey a range of emotions—from important factual content to intimate comedic moments. He was particularly strong in regard to the comedy—a crucial ingredient for Disneynature films—and it was great to see him really lean into those moments.”

The story follows Leo as he grows from a playful pup to a young sea lion.
He must eventually leave his mother’s colony in search of his own place in the world. As he battles rival males and strives to become a beachmaster, Leo encounters a host of challenges, from marine iguanas and racer snakes to yellowfin tuna and even Galapagos sharks. The archipelago—both above and below the water’s surface—becomes his vast and wild playground, with Leo remaining vigilant to survive and thrive.

Sea Lions of the Galapagos is co-directed by Keith Scholey and showcases breathtaking footage of the sea lion’s life. The film presents a rich, immersive experience for viewers, highlighting these remarkable creatures’ strength, agility, and playful nature.
