Class is officially in session, witches. Freeform has unleashed the official trailer for Coven Academy, a supernatural teen drama that brings dangerous magic, forbidden romance and deadly secrets to the halls of an elite boarding school in New Orleans.
Executive produced by Tim Federle, the creative force behind High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, the upcoming series introduces a world where supernatural power is currency, attraction can be dangerous and the wrong secret could cost someone their life.
The official trailer below offers an intriguing look at Crescent Veil, an elite academy where teenage witches and warlocks must balance their supernatural abilities with the everyday complications of growing up.
At the center of the story is Briar, played by Malina Pauli Weissman.
She is a fiercely independent New Yorker who discovers she is a witch. Her introduction to the supernatural world brings more than unexpected magical abilities. Briar finds herself surrounded by powerful students, mysterious teachers and romantic interests who could complicate her future.
Set to Olivia Rodrigo’s hit song “Brutal,” the trailer highlights Briar’s struggles to control her newfound powers while teasing a turbulent love triangle involving Jake, a dangerously charming warlock played by Malachi Barton, and Ollie, a newly turned vampire portrayed by Louis Thresher.
Briar’s mysterious energy quickly attracts attention from her fellow young witches, suggesting her arrival at Crescent Veil could have consequences far beyond her magical education.

Set in the haunted heart of New Orleans, Coven Academy follows three teenage witches and their dangerously charming warlock peers as they navigate life at an elite magical boarding school.
At Crescent Veil, power determines status, secrets can be lethal and attraction is a liability. Briar’s discovery of her magical abilities introduces her to a dangerous new reality, but she is far from the only student with extraordinary gifts.
Sasha, played by Jordan Leftwich, is a deeply empathetic young witch who can read minds. Ora Duplass portrays Tegan, an irreverent student capable of bending time.
Their extraordinary abilities offer a glimpse into the different forms of magic that exist within the academy, where students must learn to control their gifts while navigating an increasingly dangerous supernatural world.
As ancient supernatural wars threaten to consume their city, the young coven becomes caught between powerful rivalries and forbidden romantic interests.
The students must ultimately decide how far they are willing to go to protect New Orleans and themselves.
The trailer also places considerable attention on Briar’s complicated romantic life. Jake’s dangerous edge and Ollie’s transformation into a vampire introduce two very different supernatural love interests, creating a relationship triangle that could further complicate the group’s already precarious situation.
Beyond its magical conflicts, Coven Academy brings friendship, romance and teenage identity into a world where personal decisions can have supernatural consequences.

Malina Pauli Weissman, best known for portraying Violet Baudelaire in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, leads the cast as Briar, a fiercely independent teenager whose unexpected discovery of her magical abilities changes her life.
Malachi Barton (Camp Rock 3 and Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires) stars as Jake, a magnetic warlock with a dangerous edge.
Louis Thresher (Boarders) portrays Ollie, a newly turned vampire who becomes romantically entangled with Briar.
Jordan Leftwich (Family Switch) plays Sasha, a deeply empathetic witch with mind-reading abilities, while Ora Duplass (Their Town) stars as Tegan, an irreverent young witch who can manipulate time.
Tiffani Thiessen, known for Beverly Hills, 90210 and White Collar, joins the supernatural ensemble as Miss Graves, the academy’s formidable and glamorous head.
Horror favorite Devon Sawa, whose credits include Final Destination and Hacks, appears as special guest star Mr. Cole, a brilliant and charismatic warlock professor.
The recurring cast also includes Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora, BJ Harrison as Agnes and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese.
Coven Academy premieres Oct. 1 on Freeform at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT, with the full season streaming Oct. 2 on Disney+, Hulu and Freeform On Demand.
