“Shōgun” dominates 30th Annual Critics Choice TV nominations with six nods.

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has revealed the television category nominees for the 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards. The event, hosted by Chelsea Handler, will air live on E! on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The ceremony will take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and will be available to stream the following day on Peacock.
FX/Hulu’s Shōgun leads the nominations with six, including Best Drama Series. Cast members Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai earned nods for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Drama Series, respectively. Supporting roles were also recognized, with Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and Moeka Hoshi for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Several other series received four nominations each, including Abbott Elementary (ABC), Disclaimer (Apple TV+), Hacks (HBO | Max), The Diplomat (Netflix), The Penguin (HBO | Max), and What We Do in the Shadows (FX).
Abbott Elementary is up for Best Comedy Series, with Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, and Janelle James recognized for their performances. Hacks also landed in the Best Comedy Series category, with nominations for Jean Smart, Paul W. Downs, and Hannah Einbinder.
Netflix’s The Diplomat earned a nod for Best Drama Series, with lead actors Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell receiving nominations. Supporting actress Allison Janney also earned a nomination.
Limited series contenders include Apple TV+’s Disclaimer and HBO | Max’s The Penguin. Disclaimer saw nominations for Kevin Kline, Cate Blanchett, and Leila George, while The Penguin earned recognition for Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, and Deirdre O’Connell.
FX’s What We Do in the Shadows earned nominations for Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillén and a nod for Best Comedy Series.
