Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Heads Back to the Big Screen With Historic Box Office Legacy

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle returns to theatres in SCREENX this March.

The global box office phenomenon Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is heading back to theaters across North America on March 6. Crunchyroll announced the record-breaking anime epic will return exclusively to cinemas in the United States and Canada, giving fans another chance to experience the start of the franchise’s climactic trilogy on the big screen.

Notably, this marks the first time the film will screen in SCREENX, the world’s first multi-projection cinema format featuring a 270-degree panoramic field of view. The immersive format expands key scenes onto the side walls of the auditorium, pulling audiences deeper into the action. The film will play in both Japanese with English subtitles and an English dub. Tickets go on sale Feb. 20.

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment distribute the film, which originally debuted in theaters on Sept. 12.

A Record-Breaking Global Sensation

Upon its initial release, Infinity Castle earned both critical praise and fan acclaim. The film became the No. 7 top-grossing movie worldwide in 2025. Moreover, it shattered records in North America by becoming the highest-grossing international film ever released in the region, surpassing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which held the record for 25 years.

Globally, Infinity Castle now stands as the highest-grossing anime film of all time. You can read our full review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle.

Additionally, the film earned major awards recognition. It received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Feature Film, a Producers Guild of America nomination for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures. It landed on the BAFTA longlist for Best Animated Film.

The Beginning of the Final Battle

Infinity Castle launches the first installment in a sweeping three-part cinematic trilogy that adapts the final arc of the beloved series.

The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, who joined the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko, was transformed into a demon. Alongside his loyal companions Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, Tanjiro has faced powerful demons while fighting beside elite Hashira warriors.

Throughout his journey, he fought alongside Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui in the Entertainment District, and Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village.

As the Demon Slayer Corps undergo Hashira Training to prepare for their ultimate confrontation, the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji attacks the Ubuyashiki Mansion. Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to protect their leader, only to be cast into the demons’ stronghold known as the Infinity Castle. There, the final battle between humanity and demons ignites.

The film adapts the manga created by Koyoharu Gotoge, published by SHUEISHA’s Weekly Jump. Director Haruo Sotozaki leads the project, with screenplay and production handled by ufotable.

Demon Slayer Is A Franchise That Changed Anime History

Based on Gotoge’s manga series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ran from 2016 to 2020 and spans 23 volumes, selling more than 200 million copies worldwide. The franchise first premiered in 2019 and quickly grew into a cultural force.

Subsequent arcs and theatrical releases expanded the story, including the smash-hit Mugen Train film and later television arcs streaming on Crunchyroll.

With Infinity Castle returning to theaters in an immersive new format, fans can once again witness the opening chapter of the saga’s explosive conclusion on the biggest screen possible.
