Desert Warrior brings ancient Arabia to the big screen.

Historical action meets sweeping desert spectacle in Desert Warrior, the new epic directed by Rupert Wyatt. The film brings together a strong international cast and a story rooted in one of the most significant clashes of seventh-century Arabia.
Vertical will release the film exclusively in theaters on April 24, 2026.
Wyatt directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Erica Beeney and David Self. Together, the writers craft a sweeping tale about courage, rebellion, and the power of unity against overwhelming odds.
A Story of Defiance and Destiny
Set in seventh-century Arabia, Desert Warrior follows Princess Hind (Aiysha Hart), a royal determined to shape her own destiny.
Rather than submit to becoming a concubine for the ruthless Emperor Kisra, Hind chooses to escape. She flees into the unforgiving desert with her father, triggering a relentless pursuit by imperial forces.
While on the run, Hind crosses paths with a mysterious bandit played by Anthony Mackie. The outlaw carries secrets of his own, but he may also be the only person capable of helping her survive.
As danger closes in, Hind transforms from hunted fugitive into a determined leader. Along the way, she rallies fractured tribes together for a historic confrontation known as the Battle of Dhi Qar, a conflict that will echo through history.
A Cast Built for Epic Storytelling
The film brings together an impressive group of actors known for commanding performances across film and television.
Anthony Mackie, who recently appeared in Elevation and stepped into the iconic role of Sam Wilson in Captain America: Brave New World, plays the enigmatic bandit who becomes Hind’s unlikely ally.
Opposite Mackie, Aiysha Hart delivers the film’s emotional core as Princess Hind. Hart is widely known for her roles in the acclaimed series We Are Lady Parts and the fantasy drama A Discovery of Witches.
The film also features Ghassan Massoud, remembered for powerful performances in Kingdom of Heaven and All the Money in the World. His presence adds gravitas to a story deeply tied to Middle Eastern history.
Sharlto Copley joins the ensemble as well. Known for standout work in Monkey Man and the fantasy world of The Witcher, Copley has built a reputation for bringing intensity and unpredictability to every role.
Meanwhile, Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley portrays Emperor Kisra, the powerful ruler whose pursuit of Hind sets the entire story in motion. Kingsley’s legendary career includes iconic roles in Gandhi, Marvel’s Iron Man 3, and recently Wonder Man.
Rupert Wyatt Returns to Large-Scale Storytelling
Director Rupert Wyatt has experience crafting ambitious cinematic worlds. His previous work includes major studio projects and character-driven stories that blend spectacle with emotional depth.
With Desert Warrior, Wyatt turns his attention to an ancient historical setting filled with political intrigue, sweeping landscapes, and large-scale conflict.
The result promises a film that combines historical inspiration with the pulse of a modern action epic.
A Battle That Changed History
At the heart of the film lies the legendary Battle of Dhi Qar.
This clash becomes the ultimate proving ground for Princess Hind and the tribes she unites. What begins as a desperate escape evolves into a powerful stand against tyranny.
The story frames the battle not just as a moment of war, but as a turning point for those who dare to challenge an empire.
Desert Warrior opens in theaters on April 24, 2026.
