Dune: Part Three Final Trailer Teases Heartbreaking Ending for Paul and Chani

Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi trilogy reaches its emotional conclusion as Paul Atreides faces betrayal, rebellion and an uncertain future with Chani.

The final chapter of Denis Villeneuve critcally acclaimed adaptation of Dune has nearly arrived. For months, fans and audiences have been waiting to see what Villeneuve has cooked up ever since the original trailer dropped. In the build-up to Dune: Part Three, fans have only received some word as to how Paul and Chani’s story will conclude. Fortunately, this final trailer offers a heartbreaking look into the franchise’s climactic third chapter.

In addition to the final trailer for Dune: Part Three, a new poster highlighting Paul and Chani was also released. Check out the new poster down below:

Ever since Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, became emperor, he’s been on edge with intergalactic conflicts left and right. However, his discovery of Zendaya’s Chani being involved in an assassination attempt against him seems to renew something within Paul. Allying with Chani is Robert Pattinson’s Scytale, who hopes to take down Paul’s new dictatorship, but everything is stacked against Paul and Chani.

The full logline reads:

“Paul must face the consequences of his reign as old allies return, terrifying new threats emerge, and betrayal lurks in every shadow. Haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, Paul is drawn into a sweeping conspiracy, with Chani at the heart of its unfolding mystery. As rebellion brews and enemies close in, Paul must confront the true cost of power and the fate of those he loves the most.”

For those who are more familiar with the Dune books, Dune: Part Three covers the final chapters of Frank Herbert’s “Dune Messiah”. In those remaining chapters, Paul and Chani expect to have a family of their own with their two twin children, Leto and Ghanima. However, after some many devastating events, their two worlds fall apart thanks to the Tleilaxu, which Scytale is a part of. How Dune: Part Three will explore these events will remain to be seen until December.

The full cast of Dune: Part Three include:

  • Timothée Chalamet
  • Zendaya
  • Florence Pugh
  • Anya Taylor-Joy
  • Robert Pattinson
  • Jason Momoa
  • Rebecca Ferguson
  • Javier Bardem

Executive producers of Dune: Part Three includes Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, John Harrison, Jessica Derhammer, and Herbert W. Gains. Producers include Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe, and Joseph M. Caracciolo Jr.

Although the final chapter of the Dune films may release later this year, fans can still also watch the prequel series, Dune: Prophecy on HBO. The series, which premiered in 2024, is still set to receive a second season, but there has been little word on the development of that sequel. That said, it does provide a refresher for Villeneuve’s take on Herbert’s world for those wanting to see Arrakis sooner than later.

Dune: Part Three releases in theaters on December 18.
