Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan reunite for one final adventure as Jumanji unleashes its chaos on the real world.

Sony Pictures is bringing audiences back into the dangerous and unpredictable world of Jumanji, but this time, the game is coming to us. The official trailer for Jumanji: Open World reunites Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan for one final adventure that promises to take the beloved action-adventure franchise to an entirely new level.
Directed by Jake Kasdan, the upcoming sequel marks the final installment in the modern Jumanji trilogy, following the blockbuster success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level. However, the latest chapter introduces a major twist that completely changes the rules of the game.
Instead of transporting its players into a dangerous virtual jungle, Jumanji escapes the confines of its video game console and unleashes its unpredictable world into reality.
Jumanji: Open World Trailer Unleashes the Game Into Reality
The new trailer introduces an exciting change to the franchise’s familiar formula. After surviving countless dangerous encounters, outrageous challenges, and unexpected surprises inside Jumanji, the heroes must now deal with the game’s chaos invading the world they call home.
Johnson returns as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, alongside Hart as Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, Black as Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon, and Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse.
The four stars have become the heart of the modern franchise, combining larger-than-life action sequences with hilarious character interactions and an unusual video game concept that helped introduce Jumanji to a new generation.

This time, the stakes are even greater. With the boundaries between the game and reality disappearing, the characters face an adventure unlike anything they have experienced before.
The premise also brings the modern trilogy closer to the spirit of the original 1995 Jumanji film starring Robin Williams, which featured a mysterious board game that brought wild animals and dangerous supernatural events into the real world.
Original Jumanji Cast Reunites for One Final Adventure
Beyond the return of its four leading stars, Jumanji: Open World brings back several familiar faces from the previous installments.
Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain and Madison Iseman reprise their roles as the original group of teenagers whose lives changed when they discovered the mysterious video game.
Nick Jonas also returns to the franchise, alongside Danny DeVito, whose memorable appearance in Jumanji: The Next Level introduced another hilarious dynamic to the series.
The reunion gives the filmmakers an opportunity to bring the characters’ journeys full circle while exploring what happens when the game can no longer be contained.
Kasdan returns to direct from a screenplay written with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The creative team previously helped transform the franchise into one of Sony Pictures’ biggest modern adventure properties.
The Final Chapter of the Jumanji Trilogy
The modern Jumanji series began with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017, which reinvented the original board game concept as a video game adventure.
The film introduced a group of teenagers who unexpectedly found themselves trapped inside the bodies of powerful and often ridiculous video game avatars. Its success led to the 2019 sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, which expanded the game’s environments, introduced new characters, and continued the franchise’s signature mix of action and comedy.
Together, the two films earned more than $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office, establishing the revived series as a major theatrical success.
Now, Jumanji: Open World looks to deliver a fitting conclusion by reversing the concept that made the previous films so entertaining.
Rather than asking how the characters will survive inside Jumanji, the final installment raises an entirely different question: How will the real world survive Jumanji?
