Elvira Joins R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 as Mysterious Witch

Cassandra Peterson enters R.L. Stine’s horror universe as an ancient magic-wielding witch named Cassandra.

Cassandra Peterson, best known as the legendary Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, is entering the horror world of R.L. Stine best known for Goosebumps.

Peterson has joined the cast of R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 as Cassandra, a mysterious witch connected to ancient magic. Her casting was first exclusively revealed by Entertainment Weekly alongside new first-look photos from the sequel.

Cassandra understands the dark forces threatening Redhaven and the sacrifice it may take to stop them. She also appears to be the town’s best hope against the latest Pumpkinhead curse.

“R.L. Stine and I have been in the business of scaring kids for a long time, so joining PUMPKINHEAD 2 was such a treat,” Peterson said. “Playing Cassandra was the perfect ‘witchy’ role for me.”

What Is R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 About?

Inspired by R.L. Stine’s beloved The Haunting Hour, R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 follows Sam and Becka as they race to stop a new Pumpkinhead curse from claiming the entire town of Redhaven.

Bean Reid returns as Sam, while Adeline Lo reprises her role as Becka. Their latest supernatural nightmare begins when Evan, a student struggling with bullies at school, discovers a forbidden book.

The book brings the pumpkin-headed children of past sacrifices out of the ground. With Redhaven facing another deadly threat, Cassandra arrives determined to destroy the book and end its dark power.

Peterson’s arrival creates a fitting crossover between two horror icons who have introduced younger audiences to the genre in completely different ways.

“Elvira and R.L. Stine each gave me a completely different way to experience horror growing up — Elvira through her unforgettable late-night movie presentations, and Stine through twisty, page-turning novels,” said Josh Van Houdt, Tubi’s vice president of original scripted content. “Bringing them together in one film feels both nostalgic and completely fresh, which is exactly the kind of surprising combination we love creating for Tubi audiences.”

Pumpkinhead Returns With Another Redhaven Curse

The first movie introduced Sam as a teenager who moved to Redhaven with his family. His brother, Finn, played by Seth Isaac Johnson, suddenly disappeared.

The situation became even more terrifying when everyone else forgot Finn had ever existed, including their mother. Sam joined forces with Becka and town outcast Rusty, played by Matty Finochio, to stop a harvest curse before Finn was lost forever.

Jem Garrard returns to write and direct R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 after leading the first movie. The sequel will expand Redhaven’s supernatural mythology while introducing another curse connected to the town’s history of sacrifice.

Elvira and R.L. Stine Unite for Tubi Sequel

Peterson became a horror and pop culture icon through Elvira’s late-night movie presentations, gothic appearance and signature sense of humor. Her new role allows her to step away from the familiar Mistress of the Dark persona while still embracing her connection to witches and supernatural storytelling.

Stine has introduced generations of young readers to horror through Goosebumps, Fear Street and The Haunting Hour. Bringing Peterson into one of his latest screen adaptations gives Pumpkinhead 2 a nostalgic connection to two different eras of horror entertainment.

The sequel will premiere as part of Terror on Tubi, the streamer’s year-round destination for horror movies and television programming.
