Extended Behind-the-Scenes Look at James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Drops on Superman Day

DC Studios drops new Superman preview on Superman Day 2025.

As fans around the globe celebrate Superman Day — a tribute to the world’s first superhero — DC Studios is giving audiences their most exciting look yet at James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman film. Warner Bros. Pictures released new behind-the-scenes footage from the set. It offers a deeper glimpse into the first feature film from DC Studios under Gunn and co-head Peter Safran’s leadership.

Superman will release in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025. It will roll out internationally beginning July 9, 2025.

The extended sneak peek dropped as part of today’s worldwide celebration.

Directed and written by Gunn, Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult steps into the role of Lex Luthor. He joins an ensemble cast that includes Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell.

In true James Gunn fashion, the film promises a fresh take on the iconic hero that blends action, humor, and heart. The sneak peek highlights dynamic set pieces, sweeping cinematography, and a grounded emotional tone. “This Superman is driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind,” Gunn says in the new featurette.

Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1 on April 18, 1938. Since then, he’s become an international symbol of hope, strength, and kindness. He has inspired generations across comics, TV, animation, and cinema.

Superman marks a bold new beginning for the DC Universe on screen, launching the studio’s vision for interconnected stories. As the world celebrates Superman Day, today’s behind-the-scenes footage is a powerful reminder of why the Man of Steel continues to soar nearly nine decades later.

For fans counting down the days, July can’t come soon enough.
