James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Movie: Plot, Cast, and Release Date.

James Gunn’s highly anticipated “Superman” movie is set to hit theaters exactly one year from today on, July 11, 2025. This date holds special significance as it coincides with my birthday, which will be a great celebration next year. As the countdown begins, here’s what we know about this blockbuster that promises to breathe new life into the iconic superhero.

The film, officially titled “Superman,” will focus on the titular character as he navigates the complexities of his dual heritage. Raised as Clark Kent, he strives to reconcile his extraterrestrial origins with his human upbringing. Superman embodies truth, justice, and the American way in a world that increasingly views his values as old-fashioned. James Gunn, renowned for his work on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series, is at the helm of this ambitious project. He draws inspiration from the beloved comic series “All-Star Superman.” Gunn aims to explore the deeper facets of Superman’s character and his challenges in modern society.

He is a loyal and resourceful photojournalist. Wendell Pierce portrays Perry White, the stern but fair editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet. Pruitt Taylor Vince brings Jonathan Kent, Superman’s adoptive father, to life, embodying wisdom and kindness, and Neva Howell plays Martha Kent, the nurturing mother who raised Clark with unwavering love.

Nathan Fillion adds a cosmic twist to the story as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern.

Sara Sampaio will play Eve Teschmacher, Lex Luthor’s cunning and enigmatic assistant. Edi Gathegi joins the team as Mister Terrific, bringing intellect and innovation, and Isabela Merced portrays Hawkgirl, the fierce warrior with a strong sense of justice. María Gabriela De Faría takes on the role of Angela Spica/The Engineer, a tech-savvy hero with a heart of gold. Anthony Carrigan plays Metamorpho, the shape-shifting hero with a tragic past, while Terence Rosemore adds a touch of humor to the villain’s side as Otis. Beck Bennett is cast as Steve Lombard, the brash sports reporter at the Daily Planet, and Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, the glamorous and ambitious gossip columnist. Finally, Christopher MacDonald takes on the role of Ron Troupe, the earnest and dedicated journalist.

With such a diverse and talented cast, James Gunn’s “Superman” will offer a fresh and dynamic take on the beloved superhero saga.
