F1 The Movie Review: Joseph Kosinski and Brad Pitt Redefine Racing Films

Brad Pitt, Joseph Kosinski, and Hans Zimmer create racing cinema perfection in F1 The Movie.

Apple Original Films has delivered a pure adrenaline rush with F1 The Movie. It is easily the best automotive racing film ever made. As a gearhead who used to spend weekends at the track, I found this film hit different. I was completely fired up from the opening lap to the final checkered flag.

A Story That Hits the Heart of Racing

Brad Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes. He is a once-promising Formula 1 phenom whose career was derailed by a devastating crash in the 1990s. Decades later, Sonny is drawn back into the world of F1 when his former teammate Ruben Cervantes, played with charm and grit by Javier Bardem, asks him to help save his struggling team. Paired with young hotshot Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), Sonny faces both the fierce competition on the track and the ghosts of his past.

This story isn’t just about racing—it’s about redemption, mentorship, and the hunger to compete. The emotional stakes give F1 The Movie an extra gear. It elevates it beyond a simple sports film into true cinematic storytelling.

Real Racing, Real Speed, Real Cinema

Director Joseph Kosinski, who previously helmed Top Gun: Maverick, once again proves he knows how to capture speed and adrenaline like no one else. Shot during actual Grand Prix weekends, the realism is unmatched. The cockpit views are breathtaking, and as someone who lived the track life, I felt every turn, every gear shift, and every ounce of tension.

The sound design, especially in IMAX, is pure perfection. You feel the roar of the engines in your chest. Hans Zimmer’s score elevates the film even further, blending emotion and intensity in a way only Zimmer can.

F1 The Movie Is The Best Racing Film Ever Made

F1: The Movie is the most complete automotive racing film ever made. It delivers a compelling story filled with heart and high stakes, paired with intense and intelligent racing action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The top-tier cinematography puts you right in the cockpit, capturing every thrilling moment with stunning precision. The film offers an unmatched level of realism thanks to authentic Formula 1 access and real race weekend footage.

Outstanding performances from Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, and a strong supporting cast bring the story to life, set to a pulse-pounding score by Hans Zimmer. By the time the credits rolled, the gearhead inside me was grinning ear to ear. This movie reignited my need for speed and left me wanting to burn rubber again.

Verdict

I give F1 The Movie 5 out of 5 stars. It is a must-see for gearheads and moviegoers alike. With Jerry Bruckheimer, Lewis Hamilton, and Pitt himself on board as producers, F1 The Movie brings together a dream team that understands both racing and blockbuster cinema. This is absolute cinema at its finest—a film that delivers on every level and sets a new standard for the racing genre.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
