HBO offers another look at its new eight-episode adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter novel.
The doors to Hogwarts are opening once again. HBO has unveiled the official second teaser for HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE, offering another look at the highly anticipated television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter novel.
The eight-episode first season will introduce a new generation of actors to the Wizarding World, led by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE will debut Christmas 2026 on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Harry Potter Returns to Hogwarts in New HBO Series
The first season once again begins Harry Potter’s journey from an ordinary life with the Dursleys to discovering that he belongs to an extraordinary world hidden just beyond his reach.
Harry has spent his childhood being told by his Aunt Petunia that there is nothing special about him. Everything changes when a mysterious letter arrives informing him that he has been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
His arrival at Hogwarts introduces Harry to magic, new friendships, and an entirely different understanding of his own past. However, the enchanted halls of the school also hide dangerous secrets.
Alongside Ron and Hermione, Harry will eventually have to find the courage to confront a threat connected to the darkest wizard the magical world has ever known.
The eight-episode format will give HBO considerably more time to revisit the characters, locations and storylines from the first book as the network launches its new television adaptation of the Wizarding World.
New Harry Potter Cast Brings Hogwarts to Life
McLaughlin, Stanton and Stout are joined by a major ensemble of established actors and newcomers playing some of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.
John Lithgow stars as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, with Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
The Hogwarts students include Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan and Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas.
Tristan Harland and Gabriel Harland play Fred and George Weasley, respectively, while Ruari Spooner stars as Percy Weasley. Alessia Leoni plays Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah plays Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens plays Vincent Crabbe and William Nash plays Gregory Goyle.
Warwick Davis stars as Filius Flitwick, while Sirine Saba plays Pomona Sprout.
The additional cast includes Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge and Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell.
Katherine Parkinson plays Molly Weasley, Amos Kitson plays Dudley Dursley and Gracie Cochrane plays Ginny Weasley.
Richard Durden appears as Cuthbert Binns, Louise Brealey as Rolanda Hooch, Bríd Brennan as Poppy Pomfrey, Leigh Gill as Griphook and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
Who Is Making Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone?
The HBO Original series is based on Rowling’s bestselling Harry Potter books and is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner.
Mark Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the first season.
The series begins with HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE, returning audiences to the beginning of Harry’s story as he discovers Hogwarts, meets Ron and Hermione, and learns the truth about the magical world that has been waiting for him.
HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE debuts Christmas 2026 on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
