This summer, a Western epic is coming to the big screen with Horizon: An American Saga, directed by the Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Costner. The movie will premiere in theaters on June 28th, 2024. This multi-faceted chronicle delves into the expansion and settlement of the American West during the Civil War era and offers audiences a compelling narrative that spans generations. He co-wrote the script alongside Jon Baird and produced the movie through his company, Territory Pictures. It is a film that portrays the years of the Civil War in America, from 1861 to 1865.
The movie weaves together the stories of various families, friends, and enemies against the background of a divided nation. Through the eyes of different characters, the film explores the essence of American identity and the struggles and sacrifices made in pursuing a unified country. The cast includes Kevin Costner, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, and more.

This is his first film as a director since the critically acclaimed “Open Range” in 2003. The film explores the Civil War era, reminiscent of his directorial debut, “Dances with Wolves,” which won multiple Academy Awards. Costner leads a team of experienced professionals, including director of photography J. Michael Muro, production designer Derek R. Hill, and editor Miklos Wright. The film’s score is by composer John Debney.
The film’s release is split into two chapters. The first installment will hit theaters on June 28, 2024. It will be followed by the second on August 16, 2024.
