Hulu has unveiled the first images from its upcoming original series “La Máquina,” marking the streaming platform’s first Spanish-language production. The series, which stars Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna, and Eiza González, will premiere on October 9, 2024, with all six episodes dropping at once.

“La Máquina” follows the story of Esteban “La Máquina” Osuna, a boxer who has hit rock bottom after a crushing defeat. Played by Gael García Bernal, Esteban’s career and personal life are in disarray. However, his determined manager and close friend Andy Lujan, portrayed by Diego Luna, refuses to let him give up. Andy’s efforts to revive Esteban’s career turn dark when they become entangled with a dangerous criminal organization. As the stakes rise, Esteban must fight for his career and protect his family from the looming threats that emerge.

Eiza González stars as Irasema, Esteban’s ex-wife, who is a journalist navigating the treacherous world of boxing while dealing with her own challenges. Her character finds herself increasingly drawn into the dangers surrounding Esteban’s comeback.

Jorge Perugorría, Andrés Delgado, Karina Gidi, Dariam Coco, and Lucía Méndez round out the cast of the highly anticipated series. As Hulu’s first Spanish-language original, the show marks a significant step in expanding the platform’s content to a more diverse audience. Fans of gritty dramas and boxing stories will want to mark their calendars for this October release.
