I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel brings Summer horror back.

I Know What You Did Last Summer hooked me all over again. The latest chapter in this slasher saga keeps only the first two films canon, and trust me, that’s the smartest move they could have made. This legacy sequel brings back the classic chills with some fresh kills, and I was living for every moment.
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

The new cast — Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon — is fantastic. They bring a fresh energy that feels modern and exciting while still holding onto that nostalgic late-‘90s slasher vibe. You actually care about these characters, which makes every jump scare and shocking twist hit even harder.
The Return of Icons: Jennifer Love Hewitt & Freddie Prinze Jr.
Seeing Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. back on screen together made my ‘90s heart so happy. The story does a brilliant job of showing what all that trauma did to their characters over the years. It really digs into how those horrifying nights shaped who they are now, and it doesn’t shy away from the scars they still carry.

Their scenes bring so much heart to the chaos, making the stakes feel bigger and way more personal. Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson weaves them into the plot in clever ways, and there are even more surprises for die-hard fans that I won’t spoil — but trust me, they deliver.
A Wild Whodunit You Won’t Solve
This movie had my stomach churning and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Don’t even bother trying to guess who the killer is — you’re in for one wild whodunit that twists and turns in all the best ways. It honors the original films with plenty of callbacks, but it also carves out something wickedly fun and fresh that totally stands on its own.

VERDICT
I give I Know What You Did Last Summer 4.5 out of 5 stars. It’s clever, tense, nostalgic, and just plain fun from start to finish. And don’t skip the end credits — trust me. Summer horror is officially back, and this is exactly the bloody good time fans have been craving.

End Credit Scene Spoiler
Brandy’s character is back, and that reveal sets up so many cool directions for where this legacy sequel could go next.
