Journey Trailer Sends Rafael Cebrián on Desperate Fight Home

Cristopher Rodriguez directs the emotional survival thriller about a deported father racing to reunite with his family.

The official trailer for Journey previews an emotional survival thriller about family, sacrifice, and the dangerous pursuit of a second chance.

Directed by rising filmmaker Cristopher Rodriguez, the film stars Rafael Cebrián, known for Acapulco and Narcos. He plays Roberto, a man suddenly deported to Mexico while awaiting the birth of his first child.

With no legal way to return home, Roberto must begin a desperate journey across a dangerous and unforgiving landscape. Every mile introduces new threats, unexpected allies, and choices that could change his life forever.

Rafael Cebrián Risks Everything in Journey Trailer

The Journey trailer follows Roberto as he attempts to make his way back to the United States before his child arrives. However, the distance separating him from his family continues to grow as the dangers surrounding him become more severe.

Roberto’s path tests his endurance, judgment, and determination. With time working against him, he must decide how much he is willing to risk for one opportunity to reunite with the people he loves.

The survival story brings a deeply personal perspective to the immigration experience. Instead of focusing only on Roberto’s physical journey, the film explores the emotional toll of being separated from family without a clear path home.

Cebrián leads a cast that also includes Arcelia Ramírez, Gustavo Sánchez Parra, Meagan Martin, and Angela Rawna. Ramírez is known for her performances in Instructions Not Included and Like Water for Chocolate. Sánchez Parra previously appeared in Amores Perros and Sound of Freedom.

Cristopher Rodriguez Directs the Survival Thriller

Rodriguez directs Journey from a screenplay he co-wrote with Christian Briones and Orlando Briones. Remy Carter and Olivia Oppenheim produced the film, while Orlando Briones serves as executive producer.

The film combines the tension of a survival thriller with an emotional story about fatherhood and the lengths someone will go to keep a family together. Roberto encounters dangerous terrain and difficult circumstances, but the possibility of missing his child’s birth remains his greatest fear.

Special early-access screenings will take place in El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Grand Prairie, Birmingham, and Phoenix. The screenings will give select audiences an opportunity to see the movie ahead of its limited nationwide theatrical opening.

Journey opens in theaters on October 2, 2026.
