Sunrise on the Reaping sends a young Haymitch Abernathy into the deadliest Hunger Games yet as his fight against President Snow begins.

All it takes is some hope in the dark in order to get a revolution going. That’s what this younger version of Haymitch Abernathy is going through in the newest trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which releases this November.
In addition to a new trailer, new looks at the upcoming film were also released. These new images take a deeper look at the new faces that Haymitch will encounter on his journey, from the enigmatic and peculiar Drusilla Sickle to the more poppy Effie Trinket. Furthermore, a new poster also highlights the two sides fans are familiar with: the Districts and the Capitol.

While the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping unveiled what the world after Snow’s takeover looked like, this new trailer reveals what Haymitch has to do to fight back. Although Haymitch plays by Snow’s games, including participating in the opening ceremony that turns disastrous, he continuously questions why the Games are like this. Fans also get the iconic staredown between Haymitch and Snow from the book along with a few moments of Haymitch’s revenge plan.

The latest instalment of The Hunger Games franchise takes audiences back to the 50th anniversary of the gruelling event.
The young Haymitch Abernathy, played by We Were Liars‘ Joseph Zada, joins the Games, which now have twice as many tributes. In the arena, Haymitch finds himself developing unlikely alliances, like with Maysilee Donner, played by Ghostbusters: Afterlife‘s Mckenna Grace. As their coalition against Ralph Fiennes’ Snow forms, they’ll have to risk everything to change Panem’s destiny.
The story takes place several years before Katniss Everdeen took to the arena, but Suzanne Collins’ book featured appearances from Katniss and Peeta at the end. Furthermore, fans of Collins’ work can also expect Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson to reprise their roles as the franchise’s iconic duo. Whether Katniss and Peeta will be at peace in Sunrise on the Reaping like the original book will remain to be seen until November.
In additon to Zada, Grace, and Fiennes, the cast for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping includes Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.. Additionally, franchise director Francis Lawrence, who recently worked on the live-action adaptation of The Long Walk, also returns to direct.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is written by Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie based on the original book by Suzanne Collins. The upcoming film is produced by Lawrence, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping premieres in theaters on November 20.
