According to The Hollywood Reporter, the highly anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie has secured a major star for its cast. None other than Keanu Reeves will lend his voice to the iconic character Shadow the Hedgehog. This news has sent waves of excitement through the Sonic fan community and beyond.For those unfamiliar with Shadow the Hedgehog, he is a pivotal character in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Introduced in 2001, Shadow is a dark and mysterious hedgehog with incredible speed and agility, often serving as both friend and foe to Sonic himself. His complex backstory and enigmatic personality have made him a fan favorite over the years.
Keanu Reeves, known for his roles in blockbuster franchises like “The Matrix” and “John Wick,” brings his trademark intensity and gravitas to the role of Shadow. Fans can expect a compelling portrayal that adds depth to the character’s on-screen presence. This announcement comes on the heels of the success of the previous films, which have been box-office hits, and the upcoming Knuckles series. The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie, released in 2020, grossed over $300 million worldwide with the second film bringing in over $400 Million. These films solidifyed the franchise’s appeal to audiences of all ages. The third film will release later this year.
It is directed by Jeff Fowler, who also helmed the first two Sonic movies.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 promises to continue the high-energy, action-packed adventures of the beloved blue hedgehog. With Reeves joining the cast as Shadow, the film will reach new heights of excitement and entertainment. The films have featured Ben Schwartz as Sonic opposite James Marsden as Tom Wachowski. Tales and Knuckles have also been introduced, voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Idris Elba, with Jim Carrey as the fan favorite Robotnik.

Since then, Sonic has become one of the most recognizable and enduring characters in gaming history, spawning numerous sequels, spin-offs, and adaptations across various media.
