Kellogg’s Brings Toys Back in the Box with Toy Story 5 Collaboration

Toy Story 5 collaboration revives Kellogg’s classic beeakfast surprise.

Kellogg’s is tapping into nostalgia and the enduring magic of Disney and Pixar’s beloved Toy Story franchise with a new collaboration celebrating Toy Story 5, bringing toys back inside cereal boxes for the first time in more than a decade.

The limited-edition cereal boxes will begin appearing nationwide on April 26, inviting families to rediscover the simple joy of surprise toys at the breakfast table. The campaign celebrates the timeless connection between playtime and imagination, while also tying into Toy Story 5’s themes about how traditional toys continue to matter in a technology-driven world.

A Nostalgic Return to Playtime Traditions

For generations, toys hidden inside cereal boxes helped transform ordinary mornings into moments of discovery and excitement. Kellogg’s aims to recreate that feeling for today’s families, blending nostalgia for parents with a fresh experience for children discovering toys in cereal boxes for the first time.

The collaboration reflects Toy Story 5’s core theme about the role toys play in fostering creativity, friendship, and emotional connection, even as digital entertainment becomes more dominant in children’s lives.

Laura Newman, VP of Brand Marketing at WK Kellogg Co., emphasized the emotional connection many families associate with breakfast rituals and childhood memories. The return of toys in cereal boxes allows parents to share those same experiences with their kids, creating meaningful screen-free moments that mirror the film’s message about the value of physical play.

Toy Story’s Legacy Continues with Toy Meets Tech Storyline

Toy Story 5 continues Pixar’s iconic animated franchise that began in 1995 with the groundbreaking original film directed by John Lasseter. The series became one of the most influential animated franchises in cinematic history, exploring themes of friendship, loyalty, identity, and the evolving relationship between children and their toys.

The upcoming installment reunites beloved characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie as they face a new challenge in a world increasingly shaped by digital devices. In the film, the toys encounter a new technological presence named Lilypad, a tablet device that disrupts traditional playtime dynamics and challenges the toys’ purpose in Bonnie’s life.

Toy Story 5 features the return of franchise voice legends Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie, continuing the emotional continuity that has defined the series for nearly three decades. Greta Lee joins the cast as Lilypad, introducing a modern twist that reflects the changing ways children engage with entertainment.

Andrew Stanton, an Academy Award-winning filmmaker known for Finding Nemo and WALL-E, directs the film alongside co-director Kenna Harris. Randy Newman also returns to compose the score, marking his fifth Toy Story film and continuing the musical legacy that helped define the franchise’s emotional identity.

Experiential Marketing Brings The Claw to Life

To further celebrate the collaboration, Kellogg’s will host an interactive Toy Story claw machine activation at The Grove in Los Angeles on May 24, allowing fans to engage with the Toy Story universe in person. The activation highlights the tactile joy of classic toys, reinforcing the campaign’s focus on hands-on play and shared family experiences.

The promotional campaign also underscores Kellogg’s long-standing connection to family traditions, dating back to the company’s founding in 1894, when W.K. Kellogg revolutionized breakfast with Corn Flakes. Over the decades, Kellogg’s brands and characters have remained cultural staples, making the partnership with Toy Story 5 a natural fit centered on nostalgia and imagination.

Toy Story’s Enduring Cultural Impact

Few animated franchises have achieved the cultural longevity of Toy Story, which helped pioneer fully computer-animated storytelling and set new standards for emotional depth in family entertainment. Across four films, the series has explored the bond between toys and their owners, resonating with audiences across generations.

Toy Story 5 continues that tradition by examining how technology influences childhood while reinforcing the enduring importance of imagination, creativity, and friendship. The collaboration with Kellogg’s reinforces those themes through an everyday experience that brings play back into the physical world.

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 opens exclusively in theaters on June 19, 2026.
