From coach to Green Lantern, Kyle Chandler cast as Hal Jordan in Lanterns.

Kyle Chandler has been cast as Hal Jordan in HBO’s upcoming original drama series Lanterns. The series, produced in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, will follow two intergalactic cops, veteran Lantern Hal Jordan and new recruit John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, as they are drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery set in the American heartland. The duo will investigate a murder that unravels a deeper conspiracy.
Chandler is best known for his role as Coach Eric Taylor on Friday Night Lights. He received widespread acclaim for his portrayal, winning a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. I know him best from Early Edition, which is a gem of the series. Since then, Chandler has become a familiar face in both television and film. He has had roles in Netflix’s Bloodline, Showtime’s Super Pumped, and films like Slumberland, Godzilla vs. Kong, and The Midnight Sky.
The upcoming Lanterns series marks Chandler’s first foray into the DC Universe.
It is a highly anticipated role given his versatile acting background. Fans of the actor will also soon see him alongside Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx in Netflix’s film Back in Action. With an extensive career that spans television and film, Chandler has also appeared in Mayor of Kingstown, The Wolf of Wall Street, Zero Dark Thirty, and Manchester by the Sea. His other notable credits include First Man, Game Night, and Super 8.
Chandler’s portrayal of Hal Jordan will add another dynamic character to his impressive résumé. His ability to bring depth and nuance to complex roles makes him a perfect fit for the legendary Green Lantern. The series promises to explore the darker and more mysterious aspects of the DC Universe. Lanterns is set to be a major production for HBO and DC Studios, and with Chandler in the lead, it’s sure to captivate both superhero fans and drama enthusiasts alike.
