Mickey’s Home Alone is coming to Disney Jr. And Disney+.

Mickey Mouse is getting a new holiday adventure, and this one brings a very familiar Christmas setup to the Disney world.
Disney has announced Mickey’s Home Alone, a new full-length animated Christmas special set to debut during the 2026 holiday season on Disney Jr. and Disney+. The special follows Mickey as his quiet Christmas plans go completely sideways when he and Pluto are accidentally left behind while Minnie and the rest of the gang head off for a holiday trip.
For Disney fans, this already sounds like a fun seasonal watch because it gives Mickey his own home-for-the-holidays story with classic Christmas chaos, music, and a family-friendly adventure built around one of the most recognizable animated characters of all time.
What Is Mickey’s Home Alone About?
In Mickey’s Home Alone, Mickey is excited to spend Christmas at home. His plans quickly change when Minnie surprises him and the gang with tickets to spend Christmas at a world-famous Ice Palace.

The trip sounds magical, but the morning rush creates a big problem. Mickey and Pluto are accidentally left behind, leaving the two of them home alone during the holidays.
That is when the Christmas trouble begins. Mickey and Pluto must protect their home from two feisty villains, a raccoon and a weasel, who are after their Christmas dinner. While Mickey and Pluto defend the house, Minnie and the rest of the gang try to find their way back home to Mickey.
The setup gives the special a playful holiday mix of Mickey Mouse charm, slapstick comedy, and cozy Christmas stakes. It also sounds like the kind of story that can work for younger Disney Jr. viewers while still giving longtime Mickey fans something festive to enjoy on Disney+.
Why Disney Fans Should Watch
The biggest reason to keep an eye on Mickey’s Home Alone is that it brings Mickey back into a classic Christmas special format. Mickey has been part of Disney holiday traditions for generations, and this new special appears to continue that legacy with a fresh story centered on home, friendship, and holiday mishaps.
The title alone will also get attention because of its playful nod to the idea of being left behind during Christmas. Instead of just repeating that idea, the special gives it a Disney twist by putting Mickey and Pluto at the center of the action while Minnie and the gang race to get back home.
There is also the music. The special features two original songs, “Ho-Ho-Home for Christmas” and “Favorite Christmas Feeling,” by songwriter Keith Harrison Dworkin. It will also include a new arrangement of the holiday classic “Jingle Bells,” with a score by Tony Morales.
For families, that means Mickey’s Home Alone is not just another short seasonal adventure. It is being built as a full holiday special with original music, classic characters, and a Christmas story designed for repeat viewing.
Mickey Mouse Has A Long Christmas History
Mickey’s Home Alone also joins a long line of Disney holiday stories starring Mickey Mouse and his friends.
One of the most beloved examples is Mickey’s Christmas Carol, the 1983 animated classic that cast Mickey as Bob Cratchit and Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge. It remains one of Disney’s most popular holiday shorts and introduced generations of fans to Mickey’s Christmas storytelling.
Disney later continued that holiday tradition with Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, the 1999 animated anthology that told multiple Christmas stories featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. That was followed by Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas in 2004, which brought the characters back for another collection of holiday stories.
There was also Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, which turned the House of Mouse setting into a cozy Christmas gathering with Mickey and several Disney characters. More recently, Mickey Saves Christmas brought Mickey and friends into a stop-motion holiday adventure about saving Christmas after Pluto accidentally causes trouble for Santa.
That history makes Mickey’s Home Alone feel like the next chapter in a tradition Disney fans already know well. Mickey and Christmas have always gone together, and this new special gives the character another holiday story for a new generation.
