Hayao Miyazaki’s family classic My Neighbor Totoro gets a nationwide theater return.

My Neighbor Totoro, the animated favorite, returns to theaters this July as part of Studio Ghibli Fest 2026. This special engagement will give families and longtime fans another chance to experience one of the studio’s most magical films on the big screen.
The Studio Ghibli favorite will play in theaters nationwide for five days from July 11 through July 15. Screenings will be available in both English-dubbed and original Japanese-language versions with subtitles.
My Neighbor Totoro Returns To Theaters This July
The film follows sisters Satsuki and Mei as they move with their father to a new home in the countryside. What begins as a quiet change of scenery soon becomes a magical journey as the girls discover that their new home and the nearby woods are filled with strange and wonderful creatures.
Among them is Totoro, a gigantic but gentle forest spirit who can only be seen by children. Alongside Totoro and his friends, Satsuki and Mei are swept into a series of unforgettable adventures, including a ride aboard the extraordinary Cat Bus.
The film remains one of Studio Ghibli’s most treasured works. It blends childhood wonder, family, nature, and fantasy into a story that has continued to connect with audiences across generations.
The English-dubbed version features the voices of Tim Daly, Lea Salonga, and real-life sisters Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning in early voice roles.
