Netflix’s Spellbound casts a spell with Rachel Zegler.

In Spellbound, a Netflix film from Skydance Animation, a young princess faces a daunting task. She must save her family and kingdom from an unexpected curse. When Princess Ellian’s parents are transformed into monsters, she is thrust into a high-stakes journey to reverse the spell before it’s too late. Vicky Jenson, the creative mind behind Shrek, directs the film. It blends adventure and heart with a modern take on the “happily ever after” narrative.
Adding to the film’s allure is an original score by EGOT-winning composer Alan Menken. He is known for his memorable work in Disney classics such as Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. The musical experience is further enriched by the lyrical talents of Glenn Slater, whose previous collaborations with Menken include Tangled. Together, they bring an enchanting auditory backdrop to Ellian’s quest.
The voice cast features a powerhouse lineup.
Rachel Zegler brings her talents to the role of Princess Ellian. Joining her is John Lithgow as Minister Bolinar, and Jenifer Lewis as Minister Nazara. Javier Bardem and Nicole Kidman play King Solon and Queen Ellsmere. They are Elian’s cursed parents. The film also introduces the mystical oracles of the sun. Broadway legends Nathan Lane and Tituss Burgess portray them. They lend both wisdom and comic relief to Ellian’s journey.

Spellbound is from writers Lauren Hynek, Elizabeth Martin, and Julia Miranda. It captures the spirit of a fairy tale. The story introduces elements of action and humor that appeal to modern audiences. Streaming on Netflix beginning November 22, 2024, Spellbound promises to be a family-friendly adventure. It will captivate viewers of all ages. The film delivers a fresh take on courage, love, and the transformative power of magic.
