Parasite Actor, Lee Sun-kyun, Passes Away

Actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in the Oscar-winning film “Parasite,” has been found dead in an apparent suicide. According to Yonhap News Agency, the 40-year-old actor was unconscious in a car in central Seoul. The police received a report that Lee had left home, leaving behind a note resembling a suicide note, and that his car was missing. Despite being found alive, Lee was pronounced dead at the scene, and he was not taken to the hospital. The actor was facing an investigation related to suspected drug use at the time of his death.

The South Korean actor gained widespread recognition and acclaim for his versatile acting skills in various film and television projects. Lee Sun-kyun’s career took a significant leap with his role in the popular South Korean television series “Pasta” (2010), where he portrayed the character Chef Choi Hyun-wook. His charismatic performance in “Pasta” marked the beginning of his rise to stardom, showcasing his ability to tackle diverse roles.

Following his success in television, Lee Sun-kyun also made a significant impact in the film industry. Notably, his performance in the critically acclaimed movie “Parasite” (2019), directed by Bong Joon-ho, further solidified his reputation as one of South Korea’s top actors. “Parasite” made history by winning the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Later, he received international acclaim, including several Oscars, with Lee Sun-kyun contributing to the film’s success through his compelling portrayal.
