Mickey 17 is Bong Joon Ho’s sci-fi thriller starring Robert Pattinson.

From Academy Award-winning director Bong Joon Ho, “Mickey 17” will arrive exclusively in theaters on January 31, 2025. Known for his masterful storytelling in “Parasite,” Bong returns with another visionary film that blends science fiction and psychological drama. The movie stars Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes, an employee whose job requires an unprecedented commitment: dying for a living. Pattinson, best known for his roles in “The Batman” and “Tenet,” leads an ensemble cast that includes Naomi Ackie (“Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker”), Steven Yeun (“Nope”), Toni Collette (“Hereditary”), and Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Things”).

“Mickey 17” is adapted from Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey 7. The story follows Mickey, who is part of a human mission to colonize an ice world. His role involves repeatedly sacrificing himself for dangerous tasks, only to be resurrected in a new body. As he starts questioning his endless cycle of death and rebirth, Mickey faces existential dilemmas, unraveling the mystery of what it means to be truly alive.
Bong Joon Ho also produces alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, both Oscar winners for “Moonlight” and “12 Years a Slave.” The executive producer team includes Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins. International audiences will be able to experience “Mickey 17” a few days earlier, starting January 28, 2025. The film promises to be another thought-provoking exploration from one of cinema’s most celebrated directors.
