First-look teaser for Sofia the First: Royal Magic unveiled.
Disney Jr. is returning to Enchancia with a new chapter for one of its most beloved young heroines. The network released a first-look teaser for Sofia the First: Royal Magic, a brand-new animated series set in the world of the hit preschool franchise. The show will premiere this May on Disney+ and Disney Jr.
The upcoming series follows Princess Sofia as she begins a new adventure at The Charmswell School for Royal Magic. There, she learns she may be the most magical princess in the realm. However, mastering those powers will require practice, friendship, and responsibility as she navigates royal life alongside new classmates.
A Familiar Voice Returns — And New Friends Join the Kingdom
Ariel Winter returns to voice Princess Sofia, continuing the role she originated in 2012. The new series expands the world with several fresh characters, including Pepper, Sofia’s playful puppy-unicorn companion, voiced by Nate Torrence.
Sofia’s new school friends will also play a major role. Mela Pietropaolo voices Layla, Kai Harris voices Zane, and newcomer Aaliyah Magcasi voices Camila.
Meanwhile, several fan favorites are making their return. Darcy Rose Byrnes reprises Princess Amber, while Jess Harnell returns as the sorcerer Cedric. They join previously announced returning cast members Wayne Brady as Clover, Tim Gunn as Baileywick, Eric Stonestreet as Minimus, Sara Ramirez as Queen Miranda, and Travis Willingham as King Roland.
A Legacy Disney Preschool Hit
The original Sofia the First debuted in 2012 with the animated television movie Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess, followed by the series premiere in January 2013. The franchise introduced Disney’s first little girl princess and quickly became a global success for The Walt Disney Company.
The show still ranks among the top three cable telecasts of all time for girls ages 2–5 and remains one of Disney’s most successful preschool properties worldwide.
How to Rewatch the Beginning
Ahead of the new series, viewers can revisit Sofia’s origin story. The television movie Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess will stream on Disney+ for the first time starting Feb. 27. Seasons 1 through 4 are already available on the platform, and Season 1 can also be watched on Disney Jr. On Demand.
