Sony Pictures Makes CinemaCon 2026 with Spider-Man, Jumanji: Open World, Bloodborne, Resident Evil and More

Sony Pictures reveals ambitious theatrical Ssate at CinemaCon 2026.

Sony Pictures delivered one of the most talked-about showcases at CinemaCon 2026, unveiling an impressive lineup of theatrical releases spanning blockbuster franchises, prestige filmmaking, horror continuations, and highly anticipated video game adaptations.

The studio’s upcoming slate includes major franchise entries such as Spider-Man, Jumanji, and Insidious, alongside bold new adaptations including Bloodborne, Helldivers, and Grandgear. Sony continues to demonstrate confidence in theatrical storytelling with projects that range from emotional character-driven films to large-scale action spectacles designed for premium formats.

The presentation highlighted Sony’s continued strength in adapting beloved intellectual property while also working with acclaimed filmmakers and major stars to deliver cinematic event experiences across multiple genres.

The presentation also kicked off with Nate Bargatze, dressed in a tuxedo, who spoke about his upcoming film The Breadwinner before bringing out Mandy Moore and debuting an exclusive clip.

Jumanji: Open World Expands the Franchise Into the Real World

The next chapter in the $2.2 billion global franchise will be titled Jumanji: Open World, bringing back Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan for the latest evolution of the beloved action-adventure series.

Unlike previous installments that placed characters inside the game, Jumanji: Open World flips the concept by bringing the video game world into reality in what is described as a demo mode scenario. The film will feature both the human characters and their avatar counterparts interacting together for the first time as the dangers of Jumanji spill into the real world during the Christmas season.

Footage teased new environments beyond the jungle setting, including desert terrain and large-scale action sequences involving wild animals and chaotic set pieces. One comedic moment shows Johnson’s Dr. Bravestone stuck speaking Spanish, reinforcing the franchise’s signature humor.

Johnson confirmed the film continues the tradition of honoring Robin Williams’ legacy, maintaining the emotional connection to the original 1995 film that inspired the modern trilogy.
