The highly anticipated film will hit theaters on October 16, 2026, bringing fresh energy to one of gaming’s most enduring titles.

Legacy of the Street Fighter Franchise

Capcom’s Street Fighter remains one of the most popular arcade games of all time, first captivating players in the late 1980s before exploding with Street Fighter II in the early 1990s. Its fast-paced combat and colorful characters made it a staple of arcades, living rooms, and competitive gaming culture.

This isn’t the first time the series has hit theaters. In 1994, Jean-Claude Van Damme starred in Street Fighter, a campy cult favorite that has remained infamous for its over-the-top style and Raul Julia’s unforgettable performance as M. Bison. While it didn’t land with critics, the movie cemented Street Fighter as a pop-culture touchstone beyond the arcade.

With Sakurai at the helm and a diverse cast filling out the legendary roster, the 2026 adaptation aims to bring both the spirit of the game and a modern cinematic edge to the screen.
