Street Fighter movie reveals cast, story, and release date.

Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures return to the ring with a new live-action Street Fighter adaptation, centered on Capcom’s iconic video game series. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film focuses on the intense rivalry between Ryu and Ken Masters, bringing fan-favorite characters into a high-stakes cinematic brawl.
Set for release Oct. 16, 2026, the film aims to capture the spirit of the beloved arcade series that has influenced gaming culture for decades. The story takes place in 1993 and follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken as they are drawn back into the World Warrior Tournament, a global competition that pits elite martial artists against each other in brutal combat.
A Story Focused on Ken and Ryu
Street Fighter explores the complicated relationship between Ryu and Ken, two warriors whose bond has shaped the franchise since its early days in arcades. Andrew Koji stars as Ryu, a disciplined fighter seeking balance and purpose, while Noah Centineo portrays Ken Masters, a skilled martial artist whose personal struggles threaten to pull him off course.
Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits the pair to compete in the latest World Warrior Tournament. However, the competition soon reveals a dangerous conspiracy tied to the sinister M. Bison, portrayed by David Dastmalchian. As the stakes escalate, Ken and Ryu must confront their past and decide whether they will stand together or fall apart.

The trailer assures fans they can expect signature moves, including Hadoukens and powerful roundhouse kicks, while bringing the energy of the arcade classic to a modern cinematic scale.
Expanding the Legendary Roster of Fighters
The cast includes Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma and Cody Rhodes as Guile, along with a diverse lineup of fan-favorite fighters.
Vidyut Jammwal plays Dhalsim, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is Balrog, and Jason Momoa portrays Blanka.

Additional cast members include Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, and Eric André as Don Sauvage.
Honoring a Legacy Across Games, Animation, and Film
Street Fighter began as an arcade phenomenon in 1987 before exploding in popularity with Street Fighter II, which became one of the most influential fighting games of all time. The franchise expanded into animated television series, comic books, merchandise, and competitive esports tournaments.
The series first made the jump to live-action in 1994 with the Jean-Claude Van Damme-led adaptation, which introduced many fans to the characters on the big screen. Over the years, Street Fighter has remained a major force in pop culture thanks to its memorable characters, competitive gameplay, and global fanbase.
This new adaptation seeks to embrace the franchise’s legacy while focusing on the emotional journey of its central characters.
Street Fighter arrives exclusively in theaters Oct. 16, 2026, bringing one of gaming’s most recognizable franchises back into the spotlight.
