“Ted” Heads Back to High School in Season 2 Trailer

Seth MacFarlane’s foul-mouthed bear returns as Peacock announced “Ted” Season 2 premiere date.

Peacock released the official trailer for Season 2 of Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted.” The streamer also set a release date. All eight episodes premiere Thursday, March 5, exclusively on Peacock. In a note shared with the trailer, MacFarlane joined executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh. The trio thanked the writers, cast, and crew. They also praised the visual effects team for making Ted feel real.

“We hope you enjoy these eight somewhat filthy, hopefully funny, heartfelt episodes,” the note reads. It also jokes that unhappy viewers can “leave all the episodes playing to completion on multiple devices.”

What “Ted” is about

“ Ted” is a comedic prequel to the “Ted” films. The series takes place in the 1990s. Ted’s moment of fame has faded. He is back home in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Ted lives with his best friend, 17-year-old John Bennett. Max Burkholder plays John. MacFarlane voices Ted. John also lives with his parents, Matty and Susan, plus cousin Blaire. Ted often pushes John toward trouble. Still, he stays loyal. That friendship remains the show’s core.

Season 2 story details

Season 2 is set in 1994. Senior year is underway for John. Ted is still loud, crude, and impulsive. Together, they face new pressure at school and at home. Matty is a tough, blue-collar Bostonian. He sees himself as the house boss. He dislikes being challenged, especially by Blaire. Susan is warm and giving. She cares for the family without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Blaire is an outspoken college student. Her views clash with those of her relatives. That tension fuels the family comedy. Series regulars include MacFarlane, Burkholder, Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes, and Giorgia Whigham.

Season 1 success and the movie connection

Season 1 launched Jan. 11, 2024. Peacock said the show broke internal records. It also cited Nielsen data that ranked it highly in the U.S. streaming comedy space. The series ties directly to the feature films. “Ted” opened in 2012. “Ted 2” followed in 2015. Both movies focused on adult John and his chaotic bond with Ted.

Peacock is also expanding the franchise again. An upcoming animated series is in the works. That project will pick up after the films. For now, the live-action prequel returns first. The trailer promises bigger antics, sharper family feuds, and more trouble for John. Season 2 arrives March 5, with every episode dropping at once.

Season 2 of Ted premieres Thursday, March 5th on Peacock.
