Teresa Palmer Joins Prime Video’s “God of War” as Sif

“God of War” adds Teresa Palmer as Sif as Vancouver pre-production moves forward.

Teresa Palmer has signed on to join Prime Video’s live-action “God of War,” stepping into the role of Sif in the series from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Palmer brings a strong genre and blockbuster track record to the adaptation. She appeared in “Hacksaw Ridge,” played the romantic lead in the zombie love story “Warm Bodies,” and recently showed up in “The Fall Guy.” Now she enters the world of Asgard in a story built around family, grief, and survival.

Who is Sif in the Series

Sif is a mortal woman who was raised to the status of a goddess after she married Thor. Even so, she still feels like an outsider among the gods in Asgard. She has three children, and she loves them deeply. However, she could not stop her husband’s descent into misery after a war in the distant past. That history left scars that still shape their home.

Sif survives through intelligence and confidence. She has learned how to navigate a world run by powerful gods, as it can be cruel and change without warning.

The role places Palmer at the center of the show’s larger conflict. It also puts her close to the series’ most volatile forces.

What “God of War” Will Follow

Based on PlayStation’s massively popular ancient mythology-themed video game, “God of War” has a two-season order. Pre-production is underway in Vancouver, and casting has begun.

The story follows father and son Kratos and Atreus. They travel to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Along the way, Kratos tries to teach his son how to be a better god. Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.

That push-and-pull sits at the heart of the franchise. It blends big action with a more personal emotional journey.

Cast, Creative Team, and Studio Partners

Previously announced cast members include Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Max Parker as Heimdall. The ensemble also includes Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor and Mandy Patinkin as Odin.

The supporting lineup features Alaistair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri, and Danny Woodburn as Brok. Emmy Award-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes. His recent work includes “Shōgun,” “The Boys,” and “Fallout.”

Ronald D. Moore serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. It is made in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.

With Palmer now in the mix as Sif, “God of War” continues to build out its Asgard circle. The show also keeps signaling that it wants the scale of myth and the messiness of family at the same time.
