Set to premiere on Netflix on August 29th, a date symbolically tied to the franchise as “Judgement Day,” Terminator: Zero reimagines the intense, high-stakes drama of the original films within a richly animated world. The series spans eight episodes, blending past and future in a narrative that explores the ongoing war between humanity and the relentless AI known as Skynet.
The story jumps between two pivotal years.
1997 is the year Skynet became self-aware and initiated its war against humanity, and 2022 is when the future war continues to rage, leaving only a few human survivors fighting against an endless machine army. At the heart of Terminator: Zero is a soldier sent back in time to alter the course of history. Her mission? To protect Malcolm Lee, a brilliant scientist working on a new AI system that could challenge Skynet’s dominion. As Malcolm grapples with the moral dilemmas surrounding his creation, he becomes the target of an unstoppable assassin from the future. The choices he makes will have profound consequences not just for him but for his three children, shaping the fate of humanity.
The series boasts an impressive voice cast. It features Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator, André Holland as Malcolm Lee, Rosario Dawson as Eiko, Ann Dowd as The Prophet, and Sonoya Mizuno as Kokoro.
