Maia Reficco and Fernando Lindez discuss building Ry and Julián’s romance, finding their chemistry and bringing Anna Todd’s love story to life.

Prime Video certainly has a way of tugging at the hearts of its viewers with sweet summer romances. Whether that be the love triangle between Annie, Ellis, and Rory in Sterling Point or Sam, Percy, and Charlie in Every Year After, audiences have been stunned by the “will they, won’t they” stories from Prime Video. Now, viewers are electrified by a new couple whose story hails from Spain: Ry and Juliàn from Anna Todd’s The Last Sunrise.
Based on Anna Todd’s book of the same name, The Last Sunrise follows the young Ry, whose overprotective mother, Isolde, brings her along to prepare for a special event. Not interested in doing prep work, Ry ventures out by herself and comes across Juliàn, a local who almost seems too charismatic. Slowly but surely, the two fall in love, but Ry’s physical condition gradually worsens as she refuses to take her medication. It’s all heartbreaking and heartfelt as Ry and Juliàn discover there’s more than a spark between them.
I had the chance to speak with stars Maia Reficco and Fernando Lindez about The Last Sunrise and joining Prime Video’s roster of new romantics. Check out our conversation below!
The Last Sunrise begins streaming on Wednesday, August 26, on Prime Video.
