The Rings of Power Season 3 debuted its first teaser at SDCC.
Sauron’s rise to power in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is nearly complete, but can Galadriel and her allies stop him before it’s too late? There’s uncertainty in the air, but Prime Video brought out the stars who answered some of Season 3’s most pressing questions.
During The Rings of Power Season 3’s panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were joined by star Benjamin Walker to discuss the upcoming season. In addition, there were several more surprises in store for fans who attended today’s panel.
One of the exciting surprises was the release slate: the first four episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 will premiere on November 11. Two episodes will release every week until the finale on November 25. However, there was a lot more that was showcased.
The Rings of Power Season 3 SDCC Panel Highlights New Cast Members
Prime Video brought a star-studded panel for fans who are ready for The Rings of Power Season 3! Cast members Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owan Arthur, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman joined Payne, McKay, and Walker on stage to discuss what’s in store for Middle-earth’s fighters. Plus, series newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things), also joined the packed panel.
The biggest announcement from the panel highlighted three newcomers joining the cast of The Rings of Power Season 3. These stars include Eddie Marsan as Thrain, King Durin IV’s older brother, Andrew Richardson as Anarion, Elendil’s younger brother and Isildur’s younger brother, and Adam Young as Marnukh, a mysterious Orc who’s letting more on than he seems.
In addition, fans got their first teaser for The Rings of Power Season 3. The teaser sees Sauron reaching his precipice and close to forging the One Ring at Mount Doom. There are also several flashbacks to Galadriel and Celeborn, Gandalf receiving a warning about Sauron’s plans, Khazad-dûm being invaded by Sauron and his forces, and the armies of Middle-earth readying themselves for their biggest fight yet.
Furthermore, an in-house featurette was also shown to fans, focusing on the creature work for Season 3. Iconic creatures will make their appearances, including Fell-beasts, Orcs, and the iconic Balrog. The Balrog will have a speaking part in Season 3, with actor Simon Pegg confirmed to be voicing the demonic monster.
What Will Happen in The Rings of Power Season 3?
Set years after Season 2, The Rings of Power Season 3 taks place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war, bind all peoples to his will – and at last rule all Middle-earth.
There are only a few sanctuaries for mortals left, including Khazad-dûm, Lindon, and Rivendell. However, with Sauron, who’s deep in Mordor, completing his work on the One Ring, all of Middle-earth’s peoples – men, elves, dwarves, and wizards – must finally set aside their differences before time runs out.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brandstrom. Matthew Penry-Davey is producer and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee are co-producers. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 begins streaming on Wednesday, November 11, on Prime Video.
