TRON: Ares Brings Back Jeff Bridges and Features Nine Inch Nails Soundtrack

TRON: Ares has Jared Leto leading the charge into the real world.

The Grid is back in action! Disney’s “TRON: Ares” will hit theaters on October 10, 2025, and it will be epic. With big stars like Jeff Bridges, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jared Leto, this third movie will take the TRON universe to a whole new level. As a huge fan of TRON, I couldn’t be more thrilled about this news.

“TRON: Ares” continues the legacy of the groundbreaking 1982 film “TRON.” The original movie was directed by Steven Lisberger. It introduced us to a mesmerizing digital world where computer programs lived and fought for survival. Jeff Bridges’ portrayal of Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer trapped inside this digital landscape, remains iconic. The film’s pioneering use of computer-generated imagery and its pulsating electronic soundtrack by Wendy Carlos made it a cult classic.

The 2010 “TRON: Legacy” revived the franchise, bringing stunning visual effects and a modernized story to a new generation. The sequel, directed by Joseph Kosinski, saw Jeff Bridges return as Kevin Flynn and Garrett Hedlund as his son, Sam. With Daft Punk delivering an unforgettable score, the film expanded on the original’s themes while exploring new narratives and technological frontiers. Although it was a box office success, fans were left eagerly anticipating more stories from the Grid.

For those who couldn’t get enough of the TRON universe, “TRON: Uprising” filled the gap between the two films. This animated series, which aired from 2012 to 2013, delved deeper into the world of TRON, exploring the struggles and resistance movements within the digital world. The series was praised for its animation style and its ability to enrich the TRON mythology.

The third film is set to take the franchise to new heights.

Jared Leto is playing Ares, a super-advanced Program sent into the real world on a wild mission. The cast and crew recently spilled some awesome details and gave us a sneak peek that got fans super hyped. And get this—Nine Inch Nails will do the music, adding to the hype with promises of an intense soundtrack that perfectly fits TRON’s futuristic vibe.

Under the direction of Joachim Rønning, “TRON: Ares” is shaping up to be a cinematic spectacle that will delight both longtime fans and newcomers alike. As we prepare to return to the Grid, it’s clear that the TRON franchise continues to be a beacon of innovation and imagination, blazing a trail into the future of storytelling and technology.
