Trailer for ‘Tron: Ares’ arrives, featuring Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges and a punk rock edge.

The Grid is back as Disney has officially released the long-awaited trailer for Tron: Ares. It is the high-tech sequel starring Oscar winners Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges that brings the digital world crashing into our own.

Set to the industrial sounds of Nine Inch Nails, the new trailer oozes punk rock energy and atmospheric detail. Bright red light cycles tear through highways, slicing police cruisers in half, while a massive Recognizer looms ominously above a city skyline. The visual tone is bold and edgy, a far cry from the neon glow of 2010’s Tron: Legacy.
Joachim Rønning directs the film. He is known for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Young Woman and the Sea. Tron: Ares marks the third film in the franchise, which began in 1982 with the cult classic Tron. This new chapter follows Ares. He is a highly advanced program played by Leto, who is sent from the digital realm into the human world—a first-contact story between mankind and artificial intelligence.
The trailer features Ares racing through a city on his crimson light cycle as panicked citizens look on. Police chase him, but they’re no match for his futuristic firepower. In a brief moment, we hear a familiar voice — Jeff Bridges returning as Kevin Flynn — warning, “Are you ready? Because there’s no going back.” The footage then shows Ares suiting up, ready for what’s to come.
Joining Leto and Bridges is an impressive ensemble cast. It includes Gillian Anderson, who appears briefly as a high-powered executive, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, and Cameron Monaghan.
Tron: Ares hits theaters on October 10, 2025.
