“Ultraman: Rising” follows Ken Sato, a baseball star reluctantly called back to his hometown of Tokyo amid an onslaught of monster attacks. Increasingly frequent kaiju appearances threaten Tokyo’s skyline, and the city needs a hero. Sato is chosen to take up the mantle of Ultraman, the colossal defender of humanity. However, Sato’s biggest challenge isn’t the towering monsters he must fight; it’s raising one. During his journey, he adopts a 35-foot-tall, fire-breathing baby kaiju. As he struggles to balance his duties as Ultraman with his new responsibilities as a parent, Sato must protect his kaiju ward from sinister forces aiming to exploit her for their nefarious purposes.

Leading the voice cast is Christopher Sean.
He is known for his roles in “You,” “Hawaii Five-O,” and “Star Wars Resistance.” He takes on the dual role of Ken Sato and Ultraman. Gedde Watanabe, beloved for his performances in “Sixteen Candles,” “Gremlins 2: The New Batch,” and “The Summit of the Gods,” stars as Professor Sato. Tamlyn Tomita from “The Good Doctor,” “Cobra Kai,” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender” play Emiko Sato. Keone Young, from “Crank,” “Men in Black 3,” and “Star Wars Rebels,” takes on the role of Dr. Onda. Rounding out the main cast is Julia Harriman as Ami.

“Ultraman: Rising” promises to deliver more than just high-octane action. The film explores themes of responsibility, family, and self-discovery. Sato’s journey from a self-focused athlete to a protector of humanity and his unexpected kaiju child offers a fresh perspective on the superhero genre. Mark your calendars for June 14, and get ready to witness the rise of a new kind of hero on Netflix.
