Paul Bettany returns as Vision alongside James Spader’s Ultron in the final chapter of the WandaVision trilogy.

Marvel Television has unveiled the first trailer and poster for VisionQuest, giving fans their best look yet at the next chapter of Vision’s Marvel Cinematic Universe story.
Paul Bettany and James Spader joined Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige onstage at the Honda Center in Anaheim during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Bettany returns as Vision, while Spader reprises his role as the dangerous artificial intelligence Ultron.
The presentation marked a major reunion for the two MCU stars. Spader has not appeared as Ultron since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which introduced Bettany as Vision after years of voicing Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S.
The new Disney+ series will also complete the trilogy that began with the groundbreaking, award-winning WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024.
Vision Goes on the Run in VisionQuest
VisionQuest follows Vision after he was rebooted and escaped from the people who attempted to turn him into a weapon. He has remained in hiding while searching for a new purpose and trying to understand what he has become.
His search leads him inward as he consults the artificial intelligence personas embedded within his programming. Several familiar programs from across the MCU will appear, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S. and Ultron.

However, Vision’s hidden existence comes to an end when someone places a bounty on his head. The threat forces him to go on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious young man who may be the reincarnation of Vision’s son.
Ruaridh Mollica plays Thomas, bringing another member of the Maximoff family back into the MCU following Billy Maximoff’s return in Agatha All Along. In Marvel Comics, Thomas Shepherd becomes the speedster known as Speed and joins the Young Avengers alongside his twin brother, Billy.
Vision must uncover the truth about his mysterious companion while avoiding the people hunting him. He must also confront his own nature and resist Ultron’s growing influence if he hopes to survive.
Ultron Returns to Influence His Creation
Ultron played a major role in Vision’s creation during Avengers: Age of Ultron. The villain designed the synthetic body as the next stage of his evolution, but the Avengers captured it before Ultron could transfer his consciousness.
Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and Thor instead helped bring Vision to life using J.A.R.V.I.S. and the Mind Stone. Vision rejected Ultron’s worldview and joined the Avengers in their battle to save humanity.
Although Vision seemingly destroyed the final Ultron drone, the villain’s digital nature always left the door open for his return. VisionQuest will now explore the complicated connection between creator and creation in a much deeper way.
Ultron’s presence among the AI personalities inside Vision suggests Spader’s character may initially exist within Vision’s programming. However, his influence could become increasingly dangerous as Vision attempts to understand his memories, emotions, and identity.
The series will also bring several other pieces of Tony Stark’s technological history to life. Orla Brady plays F.R.I.D.A.Y., Emily Hampshire portrays E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy appears as J.A.R.V.I.S.
D’Arcy previously played Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark’s human butler, in Agent Carter and Avengers: Endgame. His new role gives physical form to the AI program that Bettany originally voiced before becoming Vision.
