First Trailer for Weapons Promises a Gripping, Mind-Bending Horror Mystery

From New Line Cinema and ‘Barbarian’ comes a haunting new mystery, Weapons.

From the mind of Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind the breakout horror hit Barbarian, comes Weapons, a chilling new thriller from New Line Cinema that promises to leave audiences questioning reality. It stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. Weapons explores the dark aftermath of a mysterious and unsettling event in the small town of Maybrook.

An unthinkable mystery shatters a peaceful small town.

At exactly 2:17 a.m. on a quiet Wednesday morning, 17 children from the same classroom are seen on home security footage calmly leaving their homes—each one alone, with no signs of struggle—and then vanishing without a trace. Only one child doesn’t leave.

The bizarre disappearances spark panic throughout the town of Maybrook, leaving families desperate and authorities baffled. As fear spreads, a tense school-wide gathering reveals just how shaken the community has become. With no answers and few clues, the town is left waiting in dread as investigators search for the truth.

Cregger directed and wrote Weapons, Which is produced by Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, J.D. Lifshitz, and Raphael Margules. Cregger also serves as a producer, alongside executive producers Michelle Morrissey and Josh Brolin.

The film’s behind-the-scenes talent includes director of photography Larkin Seiple, production designer Tom Hammock, editor Joe Murphy and costume designer Trish Sommerville. The score is composed by Ryan Holladay, Hays Holladay and Cregger himself.

Weapons is poised to be one of the year’s most unsettling cinematic experiences, continuing Cregger’s streak of bold and original storytelling in the horror genre. It releases in theaters on August 8th.
